I’m sad because I can’t find one of the books I was reading.

My life is an exciting adventure.

On the Job

So, posted a picture of myself at work up, since not many of you seem to know what I do. I was talking to someone about it a few days ago and they were like “you work on construction sites??”

I thought I had mentioned it. Guess not, lol.

A fellow photographer

This is a shot of a fellow camera lover, and friend of mine, Sam Boyko. He’s working on his own photo a day project here.

I shot this while we were fooling around with my new Canon flash unit (and a lot of fire, you might see that later).

One from the worksite

My other job, at this moment, is working on construction sites with my father doing electrical work. This is the house we are currently working on. I took this yesterday after a long day of work.

I shot this using my 20d, a polarizing filter, and my 17-85mm lens. I processed the RAW file through CS2 Bridge, making slight levels and curves adjustments and bumping up the saturation in the blue channels.

This is very old, you’ve probably seen it before. I’ve got a lot of work processed that I don’t have permission to post yet (paid work) and a lot of work that I haven’t had time to post yet do to my other work and planning for the move down to Georgia. Hopefully this will hold you over for tonight. :)

Today I picked up more flea bombing stuff (DIE FUCKERS), read a little bit of Heinlein, sent out some mail to Suarez, typed in all my bookkeeping stuff for the past couple months, exchanged a crappy little softbox for some more photo storage stuff, made yet another excel spreadsheet to try and explain the payment schedule for SCAD to my parents, emailed my high school art teacher, tried to get my hands on Oldboy and Devilman (still working on it), talked a bit with a couple incoming SCAD students, sent out a financial aid form, went shopping, vacuumed and did laundry, ate a horrible burger, and posted another picture (and an explanation of some of the techniques used) in my photoblog.

Playing around with a subtle technique

This was a shot I grabbed of a friend at a public park. I got bored and used it to experiment a bit with layers. I copied the background layer and used a Gaussian blur on it. I then set it to lighten and knocked the opacity down to 77%. I then masked out the eyes and lips a little bit to bring a little more sharpness back there. I wanted to get the sort of effect one sometimes gets with a softening filter used over the lens. It’s not really the same, but I like it on this one. My favorite effected part is the hair and glasses.

I also knocked up the saturation a little bit in RAW when I processed it. It was a cloudy day so it wasn’t too harsh out. It had just rained, actually.

This was taken about 3 minutes before I took that picture of Lance posted below.

I also want to point out a buddy of mine now has a blog on livejournal. He’s an amazing award winning photographer and you should check him out at .

Edit from 2006: Wow I hate this picture so much now. hahahahaha
