yeah, that’s the next step. I’m interested in teaching, so I have to get some kind of terminal degree. So I’m looking at MFA programs in Photography and New Genres/mixed programs in studio art, as well as PHD programs in art history, communications, and visual culture.

I’m starting grad school in August for the same reason. Still not sure about the PhD, although I may not have a choice in the next few years.

Yeah, my main feeling is that I’m not as interested in teaching technical classes, so I might have to get one if I want to teach Visual Culture or Contemporary Issues in Photography classes outside a BFA Photography curriculum. Plus I’d like to learn more about contemporary issues myself, not just make images.
Ideally, I could find a program that would combine a studio art and research degree.

You may want to take a look at MICA’s Photographic and Electronic Media program. I was accepted but decided it wasn’t for me. Might be right up your ally though.

I’ll check it out. Right now I’ve only got a tentative list, but I’m looking at some european schools, Carnegie Mellon, Stanford, and Yale. I’ve only really just started it yet, since I decided to take this next year off just to look and make sure instead of trying to rush applications while I was still getting my BFA.

Good plan. I took two years off and it was one of the best things I could have done for my artistic growth. I wish you luck in your search/application process.
