Benford Lepley is not to be confused with Benford’s Law, which states that the leading digit d (d ∈ {1, …, b − 1} ) in base b (b ≥ 2) occurs with probability

P(d)=\log_b(d+1)-\log_b(d)=\log_b \left(1+\frac{1}{d}\right).
