Using False Photographs to Create False Memories

I was linked to this really interesting study through Art Fag City -

KIMBERLEY A. WADE and MARYANNE GARRY of Victoria University of Wellington, Wellington, New Zealand and J. DON READ and D. STEPHEN LINDSAY of University of Victoria, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada conducted a study using fabricated images (and badly doctored ones, at that) to prompt false childhood memories.

The PDF can be found here.

I’ve done some writing that springs from ideas based on the photograph as record and I found this all very interesting. It’s worth a serious look (though at the times it’s hard to take it seriously, honestly – just because it’s so funny, not because the research itself is badly done. I probably wouldn’t be a qualified judge of most of it – just of the image tweaking).
