Do you HATE the new Google Image Search? Switch it Back.

It pisses me off. I want to see file size info. I don’t want things jumbled up. I don’t want too many scripts running. And I really don’t like how it displays the full image OVER a site instead of linking to the original site – that strikes me as an extra grab for google and I’m not sure it will stand, honestly.

As you can see above, they’ve taken their mobile design (pictured) and made it what we all have to use. I can understand it MORE on mobile, honestly, because of the limited space, but on a large screen it’s just TOO MANY images and not enough information. A search should be about information not about overload – leave that to the specialty jumbleartcollagesites and messymess tumblr themes – there are a billion of them.

In any case, you can switch it back. You have to scroll ALLLLL The way down to the bottom and click “Switch To Basic Version.” – they don’t want you to do this, really, or the option would be at the top, but at least it’s there. Took me a WHILE to figure out so I thought I’d share the info.

One note – it doesn’t change EVERY feature back (You still have to go through extra clicks to get to the original content) and it doesn’t seem to reliably set it as your default view. So if the new scripts break your computer, you may be SOL.

Hate it google. First thing you’ve released in years that I just can’t stand. Sorry guys.
